Design alterations
Unfortunately slow progress due to waiting for a router and a correct guitar neck in the post. (Previous neck was a left handed maple, pre-cut job, and the second neck (pictured) was the correct one albeit covered in glue.) After finding out that the GPIO pins are shared on the audio and card and touchscreen I had to find a solutions. I went on forums to find a solution and thankfully one lovely user told me the official touchscreen uses a HDMI for display and a USB connection for the touch information. This screen is 7" big though, far too big for my guitar. After much surfing I found a 5" screen that could just fit on the guitar. The initial designs have changed to accommodate the bigger screen, which is actually more practical since it is also angled towards the player for easier use. The bigger screen is also an obvious bonus.
The white piece of paper shows the touchscreen's footprint. Bridge and neck positions are approximations - measurements were made. You can also see the first neck I got sent...
